Get Involved
First Church offers many ways to get connected to our membership and our community life. Your presence and participation makes all the difference and there is something for everyone. A few ways to get involved are highlighted below, but there are many ways to get involved. You can learn more about all of our programs by talking to someone from our Membership Committee, talking with our pastor, or attending Potential New Member Classes. You can also fill out the Time and Talent Survey to let us know how you want to participate.
Boards & Committees
Serving on a Board or Committee at First Church is a great way to get to know other members and feed the things that nature your spirit. In the congregational church, everyone pitches in where they have interests and passions. So whether you like to garden, volunteer at a soup kitchen, sing, play an instrument, plan family and community activities, or something entirely different, there is a place for you here to get connected with like-minded folks!
Strawberry Festival
Each year hundreds of people turn out for great strawberry shortcake, music, kids events, and more at our Annual Strawberry Festival! Making the shortcakes, hulling the strawberries, whipping the cream, and serving our neighbors are all-hands-on-deck events and a great ways to get to know folks from across the church.
Adult Opportunities
Education
Our Deacons arrange regular learning opportunities after worship. We hold a regular bible study and host speakers to discuss diverse topics that tie together spiritual practice and modern life, on topics ranging from the history of marriage equality, to Congregational influence on New England communities, to planning for the end of life.
Parent's Club
Join a group of parents of school aged children as we gather for periodic social events to make new friends, support each other, and exchange stories from the front lines of parenting!
